The philosophy of the Little Lighthouse Learning Center is that early childhood should be a time for fun, discovery, warmth, security, and exploration. All children are creative and receptive. The staff at Little Lighthouse will strive to nurture and encourage these qualities in children that attend. Experiences are provided that meet each child’s needs and stimulate learning in all developmental areas. Each child is viewed as a unique person with an individual pattern and timing of growth. The Creative Curriculum and adult interaction is responsive to individual differences in ability and interests. Different levels of ability, development, and learning styles are expected, accepted, and used to design appropriate activities toward learning. Little Lighthouse is a 5 Star Rated program with Ohio’s Step-Up to Quality, a Head Start Collaborative and a part of the Ohio Department of Education Early Childhood Learning Expansion Grant Program. Assessment tools used are direct observation assessments, Teaching Strategies Gold, and Early Learning Assessment (ELA).
